For more than two decades, Marcuss Bennett carried a felony caseload at one of the most demanding public defender offices in the country. His days moved between jail visits, courtroom appearances, discovery review, plea negotiation, and trial preparation, often for clients whose first encounter with the legal system came at its sharpest edge.
As he advanced to Senior Public Defender, he supervised newer attorneys, led trial advocacy training, and championed institutional reforms, particularly around bail, diversion, and rehabilitation-centered dispositions.
